PERSONAL STATEMENT
It’s a love story, and my love letter would begin like this…
Dear basketball,
I fell for you in these 3 short years while playing one-on-one with my friends at the park. Playing friends quickly turned into playing full grown men and college players coming down for vacation to see if anyone could guard them.
I feel alive between your lines. I shoot till my wrists want to fall off. I love shooting, but I want to learn everything about you.
I can’t picture my life without you. You gave me purpose after my dreams of catching passes from Tom Brady 😉 were crushed. I am driven to be one of your best players and the best person I can be. Live the best basketball life I know how. In learning more about you, I also learn more about how to be a man and a teammate on and off your courts.
One of the most important things you’ve taught me so far is that I have to trust things in life, like how I trust the ball to fall through the net and that your teammates will call the screen. Just as important, you have taught me patience and hard work as well as a sense of love for the little things. How a ball feels in your hands after a weekend vacation. It’s like how hugging a loved one feels when you miss them just that much.
For you I will refine my skills to be the best pg\sg in the county my senior year; a next generation Steve Nash. I will continue to work hard, overcome adversities, adapt and adopt the mindsets of the greats. Then we’ll go to college together and maybe we’ll get invited to the big dance. During college, I will study all your ways and become a coach so we can return to the parks and schools to empower and inspire the next generation of lovers.
Sincerely,
Rory Luzier
